S.M.A.R.T. failure and cannot open Mac partition

I can still load up Windows just fine but for some reason can't open up the Mac OS parition. I got Disk Utility up but it just says "The drive has a hardware problem that can't be repaired" Please help!

Then be prepared to lose your stuff.


You can try Disk Warrior, it's $100 and may be able to fix this problem but there is no guarantee.


If DW can't do it (or you don't want to spend $100 try reinstalling, I think that will also fail and you'll have to erase the disk and reinstall.


If you have to get the data on it your only choice is to remove it from the Mac and connect it externally (either to a different Mac or to your Mac after you have replaced the HDD with a new one)
