I installed Mountain Lion a week ago. Since then, I have tried, unsuccessfully, to print on my HP Deskjet 940c. Either with my Airport, or with a USB connection. The printing software on the computer doesn't recognize the printer. Can anyone help me?

It may not be ML compatible - I don't see it on this list - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3669#HP.
Have you checked with HP to see if they have ML drivers?

Yes, I've checked with HP and have had no luck in finding ML drivers.
I am planning to replace my printer with an Epson xp400. Is this supported by ML?

The HP Deskjet 940c indeed not compatible with Mountain Lion.
You may check the 3rd party HPIJS print drivers which seems to support your printer however,
Be sure to install the 3 required downloads and follow the steps to setup the printer below:

I have the same problem Mountain Lion/MacBook Pro/HP 940c. I followed your instructions to download hpijs & the pre-requisites.
The Printer Set-up instructions do not mention Mountain Lion.
Can you assist any further please?
