How do you add ringtones to iTunes 11?

I'm trying to add ringtones to the new iTunes 11 so that I can sync to my iPhone, but I can't seem to find the ringtones section to drag and drop ringtones into it. How can I add ringtones to iTunes 11 or does it even give the user that option?

What I had to do was in iTunes, use "Add File to Library" to add the m4r file. (under the file menu) This will place it in its own Tones library (if you didn't already have one). You then tick the tone you have just added.

Then you can connect the iPhone, and there will be a specific sync tab for Tones where you can select what you added to the library and then sync it to your phone.

In iTunes 11, "Add File to Library"" or using Finder to drag .m4r files to the Library should create a tones tab.

PLEASE NOTE, if you have created your own tone by modifying an existing song in iTunes, you must delete it from the iTunes Library (you're not actually deleting the file, you're just removing it from iTunes) before dragging the .m4r file (with Finder) to the iTunes Library.

Cool I was doing all this as a shortcut to the GarageBand method, But this is tha true mashup shortcut. Use the link to step 7 if U don't already know how to make a .m4r file (it takes 30 seconds of your life once U learn it), then use the "add to library" method from above. Ringtones in 60 secs; I've been spending 60 minutes with other methods. CHEERS!!!

I had the same problem.

You have to reconnect your phone after you add the tones to the library.

After you reconnect, you will start seeing the tones tab under your phone.

I hate iTunes 11 so far, I shouldn't have update.

It doesn't transfer purchase or tell me how to do it, but just complain about how I have not transfer purchase to itunes library before update IOS. Stupid....

And then the ringtone thing as well...

I just hope the itune interface will eventually get better again...
