after iTunes update. all new downloads do not show up in music folder.

After I updated to new iTunes I can no longer see any of my new downloads. I can find them in the "downloads" folder but they are listed as tmp files with no description. The new songs never make it to my music library. I reset my settings and bought a new song and the same thing happends. The iTunes store lables it as "purchased" but the files are MIA.
