iCloud Game Saves

Hi all, and first of all thanks for your time.

Recently, I have downloaded a few games that claim they sync via the iCloud, but I have not been able to see this work yet. I have an iPhone 5 and iPad 2 both set up with the same apple ID and iCloud ID. Under settings, I have tinkered with the back up and have recently backed up everything via iCloud. I had to remove Photo Roll, because it was too much space unfortunately. I really want to get this iCloud thing figured out, and when I search google and the forums, I cannot seem to find a recent post or solution.

Is there something I am missing? Can someone please help me figure this out today?
