itunes 11 freezes when making itunes purchase

Updated iTunes to 11 on Dec 3 - update went well, restarted itunes and it updated my library. Everything seems fine, and clearly there is going to be a bit of a learning curve, but my problem is that I went to the store to buy a movie and when I click on the button to buy the movie, my itunes gives me the ol' beach ball - and then... nothing. Absolutely locks up. I've repeated this multiple times - and tried it with different movies, all with the same results. The new itunes update will not let me make a purchase! Can't wait to dig deeper into itunes to see what else they've done! Anyone else having this problem?
