Q: world book emac favor

This will probably be lost in the ether, but just thought I'd put it out there.

I have lost the emac restore CDs.  I had worldbook 2004 and 2005 previously installed and have replaced the hard drive and upgraded from 10.4. to 10.5

Even though I copied the huge world book folders and put them in the new drive, the world book app won't run and I am instructed to reinstall.  I have the world book 2004 CD but I think this is only multimedia and not the installer, which I think was only to be found in the restore CDs.

Would anyone care to send me the world book 2004 or 2005 installer (using something like pacifist to extract it?)  just a shot in the dark!  I have no idea what size it would be, but maybe it can be isolated from the other resources of the program (timeline, etc) and it wouldn't be very large?

The error message doesn't complain about not being able to run in 10.5, just that the application was moved and needs to be reinstalled or words to that effect. It actually loads all the menus too, but they are grayed out.  I did see some restore CDs on ebay so that might where I'm going with it next.  Surprisingly, games like nanosaur and others didn't complan at all about being moved.

Thanks!

I'll definitely take a look tonight. I know I brought multiple folders over but I don't recall bringing over anything from the Users/Library.  I still have the original 40GB drive so I can grab it if I didn't and then report back.  Thanks!

Well, darn it.  It didn't work.  I even found some files I had missed in Library/Receipts, but this app clearly does not like being moved!  But good try! I appreciate you taking the time.

Oh I should mention, the only one that I could not find in my origina drive that you have is the preference file in the user folder.  Rather, I have that file in the Mac HD/Library/Preferences folder

Looking at WorldBook 2003 I notice it is a Classic application (as installed on 10.3 Panther). I don't know about your 2005 version, but maybe this is the stumbling block because 10.5 Leopard does not have the Classic emulator.

Thanks Roam.  Yes, I noticed there was a Classic application in there as well in 2004.  Oh, and yes are those pref. files in the user/llibrary/pref. folder afterall.   oh well, i guess i can always find some restore cds or dvds on ebay but not sure if the gamble's worth it.  greetings from the u.s.a.!
