I am trying to connect my Netgear wireless router to my imac. I connected one ethernet cord to my modem, which is connected to the imac, and the internet connection is working fine. But I can't access parental controls for the internet. The Netgear instructions say that I need another ethernet connection from the the router directly to the imac, but there isn't another ethernet plugin on the imac. What kind of plug or adapter do I need to do this?

iMacs do have an Ethernet connection. It is on the back. Look for something that looks like an overgrown phone jack. It will have a symbol that looks like <•••>

Sorry, I think I misunderstood you. There is only ONE Ethernet connection on the iMac. Just disconnect the one from the modem and hook it up to the Netgear router so you can configure the router. You'll want to connect the modem to the router anyway once you get it all up and running.
That was such an easy fix! I can now access my parental controls on Netgear. Thank you so much for your help!🙂
