Reason one: if you have not installed quicktime, the new iTunes will refuse to import video

Solution: install QuickTime player as well as reinstall iTunes.

Reason two: the video format or codec, or specifacation does not meet the iTunes 11 demand

Solution: convert video like mp4, m4v, mov, avi, wmv, mkv, flv to iTunes supported one, detailed guide atSolution on Can't Add Videos to iTunes 11

Move video from Home videos to Movies in itunes

Go to the particular movie in "Home Videos" section, on the movie, right click the mouse (for Windows users) or press Ctrl and click the mouse (for Mac users) to open the context menu, in the context menu, click on "Get info", the "Get info" window will pop up, switch to "Options" section, click the "Media Kind" drop down list to select Movie, finally click "OK" button, your movie will automatically moved to "Movies" section.

Hello everybody. Not sure if this has been solved, but I kinda figured it out. Ok I have some movies that I downloaded and wanted to put them on my Ipad, but for the life of me couldn't figure it out. So here is what I did

1. Opened Itunes and there is a small drop down menu next to the cloud on the left hand side make sure its on movies.

2. Once that is open the tabs at the top should say: unwatched, movies, genres, and list

3. click list

4. Now I found my files and dragged and dropped them into the list, at this time they should start to download to the list.

5. Movies will be in your home videos section

6. Hooked up my ipad and went through the sync process

7. Then went to Ipad and opened videos and at the top is a list that says movies, tv shows, music video and home sharing.

8. Click home sharing and then it showed all the videos I have on my home sharing account.

I just kind of fell upon the home sharing tab. movies are there and playing great.

Hope this helps.

Good Luck.

I went to File in iTunes and clicked on "Add to Library", found my ripped movie files that I had uploaded onto my macbook and added the files. It was a piece of cake after that with the files all there, right where they should be, under home videos (since they were uploaded files my guess is that iTunes assumes they were home videos, not movies. It was a "duh" moment for me. 🙂

Dear mate,

Here is the solution for your problem, check whether you installed Quick time Player in your PC or not.

If not, install it. Then open it. it will ask for to made changes video files in your pc, say YES. Then try to open any video file in Quick time player and then close it. Then open itunes and add your video files. it will add like ease.
