Charging is not supported with this accessory

Seems like suddenly whenever and wherever I plug my iphone in to charge, I get the same error message: Charging is not supported with this accessory. This is the same accessory I've been using for the past year, and suddenly it doesn't work. Anywhere. I've read others have had the same issue since the latest update. Any help would be appreciated.
