When I try to sign in to iCloud using the iCloud Control Panel, it says that my password is for an Apple account, not for an iCloud account. How do I create an iCloud password?

You can't create an iCloud account using a PC, you can using an iPhone, iPad or Mac.

Are you kidding me???? Apple had no problem taking my $25 for the subscription though!!!! Is this confirmed? Because there are instructions for PCs LISTED - they just dont work.

No, I am not kidding you, and iCloud is not $25.00, it is free.

Plus, the limitation that the account can not be created using a PC is no secret.

As an iCloud account is a method of synchronizing multiple devices (PC, Mac, iPhone etc) and you have nothing to synchronize with, what actually were you planning on doing with it?

You can sign into an existing iCloud account using a PC, you just can't create a new account.

we were just having the same issue, so we created a new apple ID on a MAC... and then tried to log into iCloud again and we still get "Your Apple ID must be set up iCloud on an iOS or OS X device before you can use iCloud.com"

I just did that!!! What now?? uuuggggg!

first I set up the new Apple ID on the MAC and then tried to go into iCloud with the new ID, but it won't let me. I just did the exact same thing for my own iCloud account, so I don't know why it won't allow this one?

How many iCloud accounts have been created using that Mac?

If you can't login at iCloud.com using the ID you created then it is not an iCloud ID.

I was able to log into iCloud using just my regular AppleID and password. My friend tried to do the same thing on his PC and it said it had to be created on a MAC. So we made him a NEW AppleID on my MAC so that he can log into iCloud from his PC... (ALL we want to do is share a calendar on iCloud!)... but we still can't log into iCloud on either computer

It appears that you did not open an iCloud account for him, or the attempt failed.

To be clear: did you ever login to icloud.com with the ID and password that you made for your friend (and can you still login to your account on your Mac?)

iCloud has a limit on the number of accounts that you may create on one machine, that limit is 3, could you have transgressed that limit?

I can still log into iCloud with my ID but it gives me that wordy error when I try to use his ID. Mine is the only one I have created on my Mac so I should have 2 more to go?...

What steps did you go through in order to create an iCloud account for him (and were you signed out of your account when you tried)?

I was signed out. Then I created a new Apple ID for him, and tried to go into iCloud with the new ID.... am I missing something? 😕
