Let me see if I understand this correctly based on something posted a couple of years ago on this forum: my laptop's sound card does not have anything to do with the sound being streamed wirelessly to my stereo through my AE? If that is so, I guess that is why sound through the AE is a bit louder than when I connect the PC directly to the AV receiver with RCA cables. Correct?

Yes, that would be a reasonable assumption as they are two totally different means to reproduce sound from your PC.
