Ipod nano 5th generation will not show up in itunes devices.

Have tried resetting it but makes no difference. It is not my itunes as. Have uninstalled and reinstalled and ipad and iphone still show up. Nano seems to be working fine when charging off the power supply etc but just not when connected to the computer. Any ideas?
