i mainly use my mac book air now for movies and it tends to overheat and it just shuts off. i don't watch a lot of movies bc of this n i take really good care of it. is letting it charge for too long bad or why is it overheating??

You can't overcharge it. It can be left connected 24/7.

Movies put a heavy load on the CPU.

Is it sitting on a hard flat surface so air can circulate underneath it.?

It is not a laptop and can overheat if used in your lap.

Does the fan speed up to maximum speed?
