Q: Last night I updated NUMBERS on iPad and iPhone. Since then I can no longer Copy and Paste in existing worksheets. I can do it in new ones, but that is not good enough. Can anyone help me how to proceed?

More info regarding copy paste not working. Have IPad 3 with new numbers. copy paste doesn't work as expressed earlier. Tried rebooting. Created new spreadsheet and was able to copy a table in its entirety from old to new. But even in new spreadsheet the copy paste does not work in cells on that table  and no prompt to include formulas. Sometimes  fill works to add new cells. Must have copy paste to run my business. Costing me $$$ until fixed or workaround provided. Apple please respond and help.

The ultimate proof that there is something wrong with NUMBERS and not with us users, is the following. I tried to copy and paste in the instruction spreadsheet that is coming with NUMBERS, under the tab Copying and Pasting. In Dutch it is called Aan De Slag.

And also there one cannot paste according to the instruction that Apple prepared.

Apple should know this, but how to inform them effectively? Many people will have a spreadsheet program now that is not working on an essential function...

I reached the apple numbers software group. They were unaware of the problem. They were able to duplicate the copy paste problem on an old spreadsheet using the new numbers version on an IPad and on Mac computer. They are now working the problem. I have a case # & they are supposed to call me with a workaround or solution. That was the best outcome I could have hoped for given there is a problem.

I think I may have figured out what is going on.  I have Numbers on an iPad 3 and iPhone 5, and I am having problems pasting on the iPad but not my iPhone.  So I started trying to figure out what the difference might be.  I have iOS 6.0.1 and Numbers 1.7 on both devices, which meant it had to be something else.  I went through the settings for Numbers both in the app. and the Settings app, and finally found a setting that was different between the iPad and iPhone.  I had the Speak Selection option in Accessibility turned on on my iPad, but not on my iPhone.  I turned it off on my iPad, and now pasting appears to work.  Oh, Accessbility is in the General section of the Settings app.  Took me awhile to find it.  Hope that helps.

    THANK YOU CHRIS, THANK YOU!!!!!!

Your solution works, both on the iPad and the iPhone. I used the speak function to reread my own words and check by listening. But I can miss it, copy and paste is MUCH more important for me and for many many others in using spreadsheets.

It took me a whole day searching, and you did it. I already informed it as a bug at Apple's, so they may be glad to not even have to send a new update immediately.

I am very grateful, and I will contact you for every of my problems in life in the future   :-)

Thank you for raising this question. I had the same problem on my iPad3 (iOS6). But not on my iPad1 (iOS5). So I thought it were an iOS issue.

I am glad to see someone going through two iOS6 devices and found the answer.

    A life saver.

It should be on the CNN news so that millions of users would not panic as I did.

    Hi jean,

You are in a very old thread. You may want to post a fresh question or give Apple feedback.
