Used IPad 1? Wifi help

I purchased a used Ipad 1, it has a SIM card slot but no SIM card, does this affect wi- to capabilities? If not, what could be preventing it from connecting to wifi?

The lack of Sim card should not affect the Wifi connection. Just maek sure the 3G option is turned off.

Then turn on the Wifi option and locate your Wifi network from the list.

It will not pick up wifi on initial setup! I'll try changing 3G settings through iTunes and get back to you! Thanks
