Lost Apple TV remote any substitute remote

I have lost my Apple TV remote so I cannot turn on sharing on the Apple TV. Is there another remote that will access the Apple TV? I have iPad and iPhone and downloaded the Remote app but it requires you to turn on sharing on Apple TV first. Is there any way to get around this?
