"Cannot connect to iTunes store" message when updating apps?

Any time I open the App Store on my iPhone 5 this message pops up, then the app store crashes immediately. It won't let me close the YouTube app, which was the one originally being updated, either. I've tried the fixes where you change the date and 'reset all,' and nothing works. Please help me?
