Apple Mail emoji

My wife is using 10.6.8 operating system and is looking for emoji symbols in Apple Mail.

You can find them by going to system preferences, language and text and then the text tab from there. You can then specify what text turns into what emoji. That is then used directly by Apple Mail.

I don't think there are any real emoji symbols in 10.6.8. These were added in 10.7.

You're right Tom. the only thing I found was from the Edit menu>Special Characters. No emojis but there is a plain no color smiley.🙂
