Can't see what's on my iPhone

I'm having multiple issues today with iTunes and my phone. Let's focus on one.

Yesterday, I was able to connect my phone to iTunes. I then was able to select my phone and the choose "what's on my phone" and was able to see everything currently on my phone. It seems like this option has disappeared literally overnight. What's going on?
