New iPod nano in my son's Powermac

My 11 years old son is asking for an iPod for Christmas. He's using a Powermac G5 perctly capable for his limited needs.

I've seen that the new iPods require iTunes 10.7, that's just for Intel Macs.

Is there a way to use a new iPod nano with his Mac or should I go for a generic MP3 player. There's no way I will buy a new computer just for my kid to sync an iPod.

I could get an old Windows XP box to use iTunes, but this means another computer to support and space on the table. If this is the way to go, I much prefer to move him completely to Windows.

So... Is there any software that would allow him to sync a new iPod nano with his Mac.

Thanks to all for your help.

No, it is not usable with that Mac. Go for a different MP3. Or sync with your computer.
