Sony Google TV and Apple TV

Question

I have a Sony smart television with Google TV built in. Would an Apple TV box work on my television?

If it supports 1080i with HDMI port it will.

The Apple TV doesn't do 1080i. It outputs at 720p or 1080p.

The only thing the TV needs is HDMI.

I guess my question is wether or not anyone has experienced a television like mine, blocking the apple tv box?
