As part of ATT Uverse, I get free McAfee Security Suite. Should I put it on my iMac?

You don't need it on Mac OS X. Use your Mac as normal without an antivirus
I don't know of any pay-ware AV/security software that doesn't have a performance effect on Macs similar to tying a one-ton weigh to the bumper of a compact car. I've been around these forums a long time and have to believe the number of posts about serious Mac issues that suddenly went away when the user removed the AV software.
