Using Maestro credit card

My original card (Spanish) is a debit card, and also MasterCard. I have never had a credit card, in my life. But when I moved I closed that account, so I cannot use that card anymore. Here in the Netherlands I own a Maestro, and I am not allowed to use it in the App Store for some reason. Still debit, same everything except country.

While this may work for a while on iTunes, it is bound to run into trouble. Debit cards are not accepted forms of payment for iTS.

Totally false. I use nothing but debit cards with Apple. My accounts have been configured with debit cards since the inception of the iTunes Store. Apple has no issues using credit or debit cards as long as the card has the service mark of a card that Apple accepts in the country in question, such as VISA or MasterCard, and in certain countries Maestro. But if Maestro does not appear in the account configuration options, nothing can be done to get around that issue.

As I said, some prepaid cards can slip through the cracks, it happens. I am not going to argue, just ask any senior advisor who has to spend all day fixing up the mess.

There is a difference in a store bought and self funded prepaid VISA/MasterCard debit card and a bank issued debit card. Millions of folks have debit/ATM cards with the VISA, MasterCard, VISA Electron and Maestro service marks that are tied directly to their bank accounts. Apple treats them identically to the service marked credit cards from the same banks. Those cards are the ones about which I am speaking.

So if we now have a question as to the type of debit card the OP is actually having the issue with, perhaps the OP will lay it out on the table for us.

It varies from country to country and as time changes. I think fewer iTunes stores are accepting debit cards right now.
