I just tried resetting the SMC and PRAM and that did not fix the problem. One other thing when I login as a guest the sound works. It only seems to not work on my standard login. Thanks for the input.
Open Finder, select Go > Go to Folder, type ~/Library/Preferences, empty that folder and restart. If it doesn't help, go to System Preferences > Sound > Output and choose Internal Speakers
Thanks - the empting of Preferences folder did it.
You're welcome
I seem to have a new problem. Several of the programs on my computer now seem slow and and have a problem loading - any ideas why? itunes will not load at all.
