No matter how much I try, I cannot change the mail tone and it is really frustrating me. I have restarted the phone, reset the phone, restored the phone. Still no luck. Can anyone help?

So you go to Settings, Sounds, New Mail, and the setting doesn't work, doesn't show additional tones? What exactly is it doing?
It goes onto the sound, makes the sound, but when I then receive an email, it reverts back to the original sound. I changed it breifly to a quacking sound, now it is just driving me up the wall! I really need to change it! lol
Okay, try this. Go into Settings, Notifications, Mail, select the particular mail account, and look at sounds there. I forgot you can have separate sounds for each account. See if this corrects your issue.
Changed it from there and still have the issue. :/
Is it one particular mail account, or mail from one particular contact? Are you sure it is the mail sounder? I'm just trying here, but I cannot think of another place to adjust. These are the only two things I know, the default in sound, and the sound it the mail settings.
I really appreciate your help! Thank you so much. I can't change any sounds for mail. I have two accounts on my phone, and when I change them both, either through the notification centre, or the sound section they play the sound you click, but then when you actually get an email they revert back to one a quack the other a sci-fi noise
One last try and then I'm out of thougths. If you change the default in Sounds, then change them in Notification Center, then power down the phone, hold the power button and then slide to power off. When you power the phone back up again, and look, what are the settings at? If that cannot do it, I have no other thoughts, sorry.
Worked! Thank you so much! If I change it, it is stuck on the default noise and doesn't change, but at least it is off the **** quacking! Much easier to live with! lol
Good, I was starting to pull my hair out too. You should be able to duplicate this action for changes, but again, as long as you are somewhat relieved.
I have a 4s updated to iOS6 and I cannot change the mail tone. It is stuck.
