iPhone 5 and 2013 Nissan Sentra Podcast issue

I just purchased a 2013 Nissan Sentra SR w/ navigation and premium audio, and sometimes when I connect my iPhone 5 (running version 6.0.1 10A525) through the USB cable, it will playback the podcast I was listening to at 1/2 or 2x speed. What is most frustrating about it is that there is no playback speed control in the Nissan interface, so to fix the issue, I have to switch to playing a song or different series of podcast.

If I try changing the podcast to a different podcast from the same series, there is no playback at all. The timer shows on the Nissan interface as playing, but no audio comes through. For example, if I am listening to podcast A episode 1 and I experience the issue, then switching to podcast A episode 2 results in no audio and if I go back to episode 1, the playback speed is still off. When I switch to podcast B or song C, then go back to podcast A episode 1, it plays back normal.

Everytime I have experienced this issue has been when the car first starts up regardless of whether I plugged in my iPhone 5 before or after the car starts up. It does not happen everytime, but it is occuring very often. To be more clear, this has happened with different series of podcasts as well, but it has not happened with music yet.

Also, I have tested this in a 2011 Nissan Juke with navigation and the issue does happen. It seems to be a compatibility issue between the iPhone 5 and the newer 2013 Nissan navigation/audio system.

Any thoughts on what is going on?

Thanks.

I am experiencng the same exact issue in regard to speed of playback in my 2013 Sentra as well. It is very annoying & I can't figure out how to fix it, other than just switching back & forth b/w music & the podcast like you mentioned above. I previously had a 2012 Sentra & loved it, but it drowned in the Sandy flood, and now that I've replaced it w/the newer model, I'm noticing all sorts of things that aren't as good as the 2012. Thought I was getting an upgrade.....guess not!
