Notifications not syncing across devices

I am having a problem where some notifications are not syncing across my devices. This happens every time with Facebook..I'll look at them on my iPhone but they will still always show up on my iPad where I need to dismiss them again. It also happens with other apps but just can't recall which exactly. Does anyone else have this issue or know of a fix?
