Can I do a iPhone back up in "time capsule" or an external HD?

I need more space at my HD and do not use iCloud in order to do a back up. I soul like to change the back up adress in I Tunes redirecting it to an external HD. Is it possible?

MacBook Pro, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2)

Clinton's post won't help you, as the iPhone backup is not stored in your iTunes library. Follow these directions:

1) Make sure that iTunes is closed.

2) Move the folder called ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/ to the drive you want to back up to. For instance, an external drive.

3) Launch Terminal Applications/Utilities/Terminal and type in the following command line:

ln -s /Volumes/DriveName/Backup/ ~/Library/Application\ Support/MobileSync/Backup

In the above example, ‘DriveName’ would be the name of the new backup location.
