itunes will not recognize my iphone

I have a 4s about a year old. The phone has no physical or water damage. I cannot get my computer or iTunes to recognize my phone to charge it. I have tried multiple computers, OEM usb cords, aftermarket usb cords and my computer will not charge my iphone let alone iTunes recognizing it but once plugged in I can see the "Photo Stream" when I open up my computer but that's it. The same usb cords will charge my phone when plugged into a wall outlet charger, in the car with my battery charger and my iphone dock charges it too. I just uninstalled itunes and reinstalled but still that didn't solve the problem.

Any input would be helpful.

Not sure if it will help, but if you didn't follow this guide when you uninstalled iTunes you might try it again: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923. To be successfull you have to uninstall all components, in the order specified, then reinstall the latest version of iTunes. This wouldn't explain, however, why it wouldn't even charge on your computer when it does on other devices using the same cord. If this is a desktop computer, try plugging it into the rear usb port and make sure you aren't going through any usb hubs. If hard resetting your phone and reinstalling iTunes doesn't work, try this:

1. Plug in your phone with the USB cable

2. Go to Run -> devmgmt.msc

3. Universal Serial Bus controllers

4. Search and double click Apple Mobile Device USB Driver

5. to go Drivers tab and update it
