Will the basline MacBook Pro be fast enough for my needs?

Hi all,

I'm looking to get the basline MacBook Pro soon with an added 8GB of RAM purchased as well. My goals are to be able to edit video and play simple games, such as Amnesia, Slenderman, Gotham City Imposters, etc. Will the 13" MacBook Pro with 2.5 GHz and 8GB of RAM be fast enough for these tasks, or do I need to go to the cheapest iMac? Thanks!

MacBook Pro, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2)

Yes, absolutely. It is true that other models have "better" graphics but it is ridiculous to say the 13" has "lousy" graphics. If you have any doubts, go into an Apple Store and compare them side by side.

There are some pundits who will insist that any computer without a discrete video card (such as the iMacs and 15" MB Pro) is a lousy computer. Other pundits would suggest that any Mac is a lousy computer for playing games. It depends on what you are looking for. It depends on what you are looking for. The 13" MBP will play most games though you might have to reduce the graphic settings. I was surprised at how playable Diablo 3 is on a 2011 MBA and yes, I'd rather play it on my iMac, but on the road I'm quite happy to play it on the MBA...and happier still should Blizzard ever port it to a game console.
