Apple TV/ AirPlay / mirroring/ not dependable/ need help

I'm having trouble connecting my iPad to AirPlay on my Apple TV to mirror. Also once I get connected I frequently get disconnected from AirPlay and mirroring. I will have to turn airplay on and off so it will show up on my iPad. I use this for presentation purposes with the public if I cannot fix this I will have to find an alternative. It's embarrassing and unprofessional. Can anybody help please?
