I have bought a new macbook air. The username was set by the salesgirl to my name. However, she didnt ask me for my password and the password appears to be pre-set. I was wondering if there is a default password that comes with the factory settings for the Macbook Air?

No, as there are no accounts on a new apple machine when it ships, so the passwords are all set by whomever sets up the computer.
Can't you just call the store and ask - the store employees may all use a default password, and then you can change it to one you pick yourself.

One thing I would strongly recommend, is do not leave the admin account password field blank. That may work much of the time, but inevitably you will run into an update or installer or some other admin function that will not accept an empty password. So change it to something in order to avoid a big headache somewhere down the road.
