Press and hold any of the apps and after a couple of seconds or so they should start to shake. Then press the 'x' in the left corner to delete the ones that you don't want, and when you've finished deleting press the home button so as to stop the shaking. If you don't get the 'x' on any of the apps that you've downloaded (you can't delete built-in apps) then check that Settings > General > Restrictions > Deleting Apps isn't set 'off'

I assume you mean an unwanted app. Just press and hold the app until they all wiggle. Tap on the 'x' in the top left corner of the app. Press the home button to resume.
If it is one of the built in apps, you can't. If it is a downloaded app, tap and hold on any app icon until they start to wiggle and a Black "X" appears on the icons. Tap the X to delete. Any app that doesn't not have an "X" is built in to iOS, as I mentioned and cannot be deleted.
Thank you so much and Iwant to wish you a Merry Christmas.
