The stupid app that apple makes you get on your ipad keeps crashing and not playing my podcasts. Is there a way I can play them from itunes, and not have to deal with the crappy app?

Restart your phone.
Play and manage podcasts via the music app on you phone like you did under ios5.
I did as you discussed above, but now the music app is playing everything at a super speed. I cannot get it,to play the podcasts correctly, no matter what podcast or if I reboot system. Any other tricks that you suggest? Thanks again!
Is it also playing music at double speed, or just podcasts?
If it is just playing podcasts at double speed, then perhaps you accidentally clicked the "2x" button. It appears on the right side of your screen, just beneath the slider to adjust your playback position in the podcast. The button is a 3-way toggle, with options for "1x", "2x", and "1/2x".
