j have deleted contacts from my ipad, and it also took them off my iphone, how do i get them back? they are not in icloud.

If you deleted them from your ipad and they were then removed from your iphone by themselves, they were in icloud at one point, and once you remove something from icloud on your device, you're also removing the information from the icloud server. Did you ever make an itunes backup before this happened?
