No internet for a split second on wake from sleep
After waking computer from sleep my ethernet connection will take a split second to connect to the internet. Is this normal?

Yes...
If I open a browser to fast it will say no internet connected. If I wait a second before opening a internet browser all is fine.
Are you using wifi?
Just to reinforce what Davic said: same here; I leave my browser open; if it sleeps for a bit and then I hit one of the tabs too fast, it won't connect either until about 15 seconds or so later.
No, it's wired ethernet right into my router.
Check and see if your router has a firmware update. Six months ago I was having problems with DNS and internet connection. Turns out my router had a firmware update and that fixed it.
To be honest... A split second delay isn't that bad.
Nope. I actually checked that. Also no problems with my iOS devices either. Sounds like my new 2012 iMac can open a browser faster than it can reinitialize the ethernet connection. Normal, right?
I didn't mention wireless - my iMac is hard wired as well; it still takes a few seconds to reconnect after I wake it.
I just put my computer to sleep for about 5 minutes. I hit the spacebar to bring it out of sleep and did a command+R to refresh my browser window. It had the 'not connected to the internet' window for a few seconds.
So I would say your internet connection is ok when awakening for sleep.
