How do i reset my passcode if i dont remember it?

I had changed my password on my iPhone4 last night and when i woke up this morning i accidentally kept entering my old passcode. Then it went to locked, then i tried entering in the new passcode and it wouldnt work. My phone has been locked all day and said "plug into iTunes". So i tried to restore it but when it said "done". nothing changed..... What do i do to reset it so i can access my phone and actually make calls, check texts, and use my apps? PLEASE HELP!!!! ):

iPhone 4, iOS 6.0.1

My IPhone 5 is now doing that I forgotten my password and then it says connect to iTunes and I am on a hp compter so I don't know what to do

The link above is what you need. However, I'll post it again for you. You cannot reset it, you have to remove it and then set a new one. See this link. If you forgot the passcode for your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, or your device is disabled - Apple Support

You have to go to Appleid.apple.com, then hit manage my account and you'll have to change your password again. Hope that helps

This thread is in reference to the 4-digit passcode for the phone, not an Apple ID password, which is what your corrective action is referring to. And the post you are answering is from 3 years ago!
