Mail has a different look recently. Often, the top bar [File Edit etc.) disappears completely and I cannot figure how to get it back. While it is gone, the Dock is unavailable; command H get nothing, command Q get nothing. Sporaticly, the top bar appears (Darned if I know why!) but the Hide Mail is grayed out and command H gets nothing. Is there a tutorial or something that will tell me how to handle Mail? Thanks
It looks like Mail is broken. Open Disk Utility and repair permissions. Then, open > Software Update and install the most recent version. If it doesn't work, reinstall 10.8.2 > http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1581

mende1 and Jeffrey: Thanks for your help. I'm embarrassed because I am the one who counsels, "If a program is acting goofy, repair permissions." Then I have a brain poofy and don't. Duh!
