how can I get my data from my old Iphone onto my new Iphone 4S?

when one connected a new ios device be it an iphone, ipad or ipod touch
itunes will ask if you wish to restore it with a backup and if you choose to do so it will list
backups of all ios devices synced with that computer and you can choose which backup to restore from
and yes it works across ipad->iphone->ipod touch
