MBP is freezy after upgrading 16Gb RAM

Hi everyone,

Today I tried to upgrade my MacbookPro Early 2011 (17", i7 2.2Ghz) with 16Gb kit RAM.

My macbook pro is freezy randomly.

I ran Apple Hardware Test with no error (normal test and extended test), or conflict, reset SMC, PRAM.

But it doesnt work for me 😟.

When my MBP startup, sometime it freezy after the gray Apple logo show up, sometime it warns with 3 beep (problem with RAM?), sometime it works well. but after 5-10 min. working, it freezy again. When it s freezing, the screen has some strange line, or image, or sysbol...

I 've used memtest for the new RAM, and have no error!

I think I have some problem with compatibility between RAM and GRAPHIC-CARD?

Did someone get the same problem like me?

Thanks.

(sorry for bad English 😟)

3 tones on boot means the memory doesn't pass the power on self test. It's possible the memory is bad or not the right memory for your MacBook Pro (even though it meets specs and passes tests). Recommend replacing the memory with same or different brand (Crucial brand memory is well regarded and available worldwide). Seethis Apple note on boot tones.

You must have put the wrong memory in, I advise Crucial.com, not only do they make the memory, but sell only top tier RAM and also have a almost fool proof method of ordering the exact RAM you require by entering your machine into their online system.

I always use their memory and never had a issue because I only want to be in the machine one time, not several with lower grade RAM or the wrong specs.

Those screws are just too dam tiny. 🙂
