How can I work with Microsoft Works files on a Mac?

I recently bought a Macbook Air (my first Mac) so everything is new to me. I have spreadsheets and a few MS Works documents that I would like to access. Would Pages/Numbers access these docs? Thanks!

Works Document Viewer for the Mac can convert Microsoft Works for Windows documents. It cost a couple of bucks, but it's dead simple to use, and really, really fast. It's not an editor, though, and you'll lose some formatting in the process. Still, if you want to get the text out of your MSWorks document and into a Mac word processor (I prefer Pages), it's worth a look.

Thanks for the welcome and reply to my question. I was uncertain if Pages and Numbers would open the MS Works files but would prefer to make the switch to those programs if they are compatible. I don't think MS Office will even open Works files.

MS Office can open MS Works files (wps and wks) iWorks (Pages & Numbers) can not.
