I cannot add individual songs to my iPod in the new iTunes. I tried all of the methods described in the Apple tutorial - none of them actually work. All I can do is auto-fill, which I have absolutely no desire to do. Is anyone else having this problem? Anybody out there find a solution yet?

Assuming you do not already have the left hand sidebar showing, click on View, Show sidebar. Then you will see all your devices libray and playlists. Then you can just drag the song title onto your iPod. Just retried to confirm it works with my iPhone and it does. Then click on your device and sync.

An grey button apears to the right of the song title when you hover over it. Click it and the Add To option appears about 2/3 the way down. Click on that and you can add to a playlist

Steve, Thanks!  View / Show Sidebar solved the problem.

I tried to do this... I cliched on my device but I can't figure out what to do from there. How do I manually sync? And where do I need to be to see the grey button over the song title?

I had similar problems, and all I had to do was enable the "manually manage music and videos" option under the "Summary" tab once you have selected the device you wish to add songs to. Once I did that, I was able to drag and drop as well as click the small arrow next to the song title and "Add To" my device.

    Hope that helps.

Thanks SO much! I've been struggling with this for quite some time now. I'm on a new computer with a slightly different Itunes library so syncing would only delete a bunch of my music. Thankfully, now I can simply add my new songs without syncing. Thanks a ton!

Not sure if it's the same issue, but I wasn't able to add to playlist - turns out it's because my playlist was created on iTunes and added to my iPod - to add songs to the playlist, I need to add to the iTunes list then synch to my iPod (will update the songs on the playlist).
