KEYBOARD TOTALLY DEAD - HELP!

I just changed The batteries in the tiny wireless keyboard, and it's totally dead - no response at all! Tried several different sets of batteries - nothing. This is DESPERATE - I have no other keyboard or computer, & am typing this on my phone, which is awful. The keyboard has no 'on-off' button as referred to in other discussions. What can u do? This is the first time I've ever had to change the battery. I have a load of stuff I need to do right now. ( I HATE APPLE; never had this sort of hassle with a Windows PC!).

It is wise to have a backup keyboard, get yourself a cheap $10 USB keyboard for emergencies like this. Try removing the batteries and re-insert. Then do a SMC Reset (Google for Intel iMac SMC Reset) and then restart normally, the keyboard should be found an enable you to pair it.

Of course i've installed the batteries correctly! Obviously the first thing I checked - even tried inserting them the other way round as well. What is an SMC reset? Sorry i'm struggling here on a tiny phone. ( yes now i'm in Apple world I guess I need a spare keyboard - never needed one in 15 years of Windows!)

The banes of using wireless, battery-powered input devices. Zap the PRAM and Reset the SMC, then try pairing the keyboard, again.
