To roll back to iTunes 10.7 first download a copy of the installer from here, uninstall iTunes. Probably best to also remove other suppporting software, e.g. Apple Application Support, Apple Mobile Device Support & Bonjour. Reboot. Restore the pre-upgrade version of your library database as per the diagram below, then install iTunes 10.7.

See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to scan the media folder and catch up with any changes made since the backup file was created.

Hey man, this is my first post and although I already had an apple account, I signed up for forums just to thank you as my first post. Your solution was really simple and solved the problem. Thanks for the really good, descriptive and easy to read screenshot too for newbies (I'm not really a newbie though lol). But thank you for the good instructions! Not sure how to boost your level but I liked your posts, hope that helps!

No, you don't have to downgrade to 10.7. You can use ctrl-b to turn on the menu bar and ctrl-s to turn on the sidebar. This restores much of the look of the previous version. You might find you can get used to the other changes. If you do want to downgrade however you need to restore an older version of your library or build a new one from scratch. iTunes 10.7 will not open a library that has been modified by iTunes 11.x

Wouldn't it be easier to have a menu, or buttons rather than hidden features...

I'm only using itunes because my ipod isn't smart enough to show up as a removable drive on the PC. I have never used itunes to play or store music. Just use it to drag and drop existing music in from the hard drive. This is all to much for a simple sync every now and then. The ipod works great - alone, I find it easier to update pod casts directly than to deal with itunes. Email, weather, quick internet searches, it's ok. It's itunes that I could do with out, any version. It bugs me that with out itunes, this thing is a paper weight.

Thank you for your help though. When apple forces the new version, I will remember your good ideas.

After I start the new version of iTunes, I can see my device in the upper right corner (ipad). But, after I have gone to the iTunes store or anywhere else, I can no longer see my device in the upper right corner. I can't find it anywhere in the menus either. In the previous version, it was very easy to find. How do I see my device again after I've navigated to another location?
