Restore macbook pro to factory settings without disc

I have a macbook pro upgraded to MAC OS X lion (10.8.2). i want to restore to factory settings. i don't have a startup disc, my mac didn't come with one and i downloaded OS from app store. Do I have to create a disc and can this be done. Also I have a problem with my keyboard, it doesn't work at all, do you think restoring it will correct this problem for me as well, fingers crossed?

You don't need discs to restore your MacBook Pro to default settings.

1. Make a backup and press Command, Option and R keys while your computer is starting.

2. Open Disk Utility, select Macintosh HD in the sidebar and erase the drive.

3. Install OS X.

If the problem is software, the problem should be solved. If your problem isn't solved after reinstalling OS X, do a SMC and PRAM reset, or take the computer to an Apple Store
