FCP X import media button turns monitor black and no menu comes up.

Question

FCP X import media button turns monitor black and no menu comes up.

I am haveing a new issue when I hit the import media button or command i, my main monitor goes almost black like it normally would as the media import window opens infront of the editor window, but now the import media window does not appear at all, then I have to force quit, I reinstalled FCPX and repaired permissions but still have the issue. This issue is on my mac pro only, my macbook pro's media window opens like it should.

Any ideas on what is causing this woudl be much appreciated.

OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2), 16gigs ram, running three montitors

Sorry folks I just figured it out, FCP was clashing with my Elgato firewire TV tuner box, which it has not done before, but after unplugging and plugging it back into the firewire port the import window is back in action and the Elgato tv tuner comes up as a camera in the import box which it is not, and that could be where the clash is, but so far even with it plugged in the import menu opens as it should.
