I noticed that there was an update for iWork to version 9.3 today (released Dec 4, 2012). I only have Pages and Keynote which I purchased separately through the Mac App store in Sept and Oct respectively.
My update for Pages worked perfectly, but even after several attempts the Keynote 5.3 update will not work. I get a message in the store that "an error occured". Then a pop up says, "Keynote failed to download. Use the Purchases page and try again." I then used the Purchases page but then the "an error occured" message reappears.
My machine is running the latest Mountain Lion OS X.

Any hints? Ideas? Suggestions?

I have experienced the exact same symptom yesterday and today, attempting to download the newly released 6.0.1 update.

This problem persisted after performing the following steps.

    Trashed the 6.0 Keynote.app file.

Signed in and out of my app store account.

Clicked the checkbox agreeing to Apple's terms and conditions and saved.

Reset all warnings for buying and downloading (in the user account info screen).

Trashed the com.apple.appstore cache folder (with and without cold booting after trashing).

Problem solved—restored a clone of my Mavericks installation that I prepared before the above problems began.
