how do i update my ipad from3.2.2 verson to the latest update and where

Im trying to update my Ipad to the latest version right now its 3.2.2 version. how do i do it and where do I go to do this and do I have to backup 1st?

iOS: How to update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4623 - If currently using pre-iOS5 you can only upgrade by connecting with iTunes, not with Software Update.


Back up your device first as updating it can erase content! See the suggestions in the second paragraph of King_Penguin's 12/2012 post https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4581160?answerId=20520311022#20520311022
