Macbook Pro Trackpad Flush?

I've had my Macbook Pro 13" about a week now and I am loving it.

Sounds anal but one thing bugging me is the trackpad.

The front edge of the trackpad is completely flush, so if I run my finger off the trackpad onto the laptop body I barely feel it.

The back edge of the trackpad is sunk a millimetre or two.

Should it be flush?

Yes, there should be a slight offset, so there is tactile recogntion, when typing un-sited. You say it is quite new, I would take it back to the Apple Store, for an adjustment, or replacement. I know it would drive me mad. You have a 90 day warranty, on the machine, as well as a 14 day return policy. t should be a simple fix to re-elevate the trim on the track pad. Seeing that is new, I would not touch it. Call Apple Support 800-692-7753, or set up a genius bar apointment on line.

These folks are very good at what they do, and are quite accomodating.

Hope this helps.

Take it back, this is not right, as Thomas A Reed, and Shootist, tend o agree. These contributers are extremely knolwledgable, and if they agree with my lowly asnwer, I would give them the ultimate creedence. I never said it was normal, quite the oppisite. Maybe I worde it wrong that there should be an off set, i meant there should be a recess. All the best

Okay cool, thanks everybody 🙂

I'll take it in store tomorrow and see what they say 🙂

What they will say is nothing is wrong with it. Apple has a 14 day No Questions Asked Return Policy. Return it and Buy another.

Otherwise one of the Geniuses may Press on it really hard and say See it just needed to be pushed down. That does not fix the ubnderlying problem, Manufacturering defect.

Just took it instore and they said it's fine. We looked around all the instore models of my computer and they're all the same.

@sanjampet - I was confused because you said there should be a slight offset (like mine has) but that you would take it in anyway. I thought "why would I take it back if it's supposed to be like that?"

Anyway it's all sorted now.

Thanks eveyrbody.
